چکیده

Electrochemical hydrogen evolution via water splitting has been regarded as a highly promising technique for fossil-fuel substitution in the future to avoid environmental pollution and energy waste. As half of reaction, oxygen reaction (OER) is major obstacle because sluggish kinetics complex reaction. It imperative urgent develop efficient, low cost earth-abundant electrocatalysts overcome issue. Among various non-noble-metal-based electrocatalysts, transition metal chalcogenide (TMS) associated materials have exploited potential candidates past few years due their excellent electrochemical performance unique internal structure. In this review, we summarized recent advances sulfides (TMSs) (HER), OER, overall splitting, then reviewed several modified strategies from perspective functional concepts synthesis methods, characterization techniques, catalytic mechanisms performances. Finally, existing deficiencies, challenges development directions TMSs HER, process are further discussed summarized.

Recent Progress in Metal‐Organic Frameworks for Applications in Electrocatalytic and Photocatalytic Water Splitting

The development of clean and renewable energy materials as alternatives to fossil fuels is foreseen as a potential solution to the crucial problems of environmental pollution and energy shortages. Hydrogen is an ideal energy material for the future, and water splitting using solar/electrical energy is one way to generate hydrogen. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous materials ...

Bifunctional non-noble metal oxide nanoparticle electrocatalysts through lithium-induced conversion for overall water splitting

Developing earth-abundant, active and stable electrocatalysts which operate in the same electrolyte for water splitting, including oxygen evolution reaction and hydrogen evolution reaction, is important for many renewable energy conversion processes. Here we demonstrate the improvement of catalytic activity when transition metal oxide (iron, cobalt, nickel oxides and their mixed oxides) nanopar...

Photocatalytic overall water splitting on the perovskite-type transition metal oxynitride CaTaO2N under visible light irradiation.

Overall water splitting was achieved on a simple perovskite oxynitride photocatalyst, CaTaO2N, with an absorption edge at 510 nm. This photocatalyst, modified with a Rh-Cr bimetallic oxide cocatalyst, produced stoichiometric H2 and O2 steadily under UV and visible light irradiation after coating of the photocatalyst particles with amorphous Ti oxyhydroxide.

Anchoring CoO Domains on CoSe2 Nanobelts as Bifunctional Electrocatalysts for Overall Water Splitting in Neutral Media

A facile in situ partial surface-oxidation strategy to integrate CoO domains with CoSe2 nanobelts on Ti mesh (denoted as CoO/CoSe2) via direct calcination of CoSe2-diethylenetriamine precursors is reported. The resulted self-supported CoO/CoSe2 exhibits an outstanding activity and stability in neutral media toward both hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction.

Recent Progress in Energy‐Driven Water Splitting

Hydrogen is readily obtained from renewable and non-renewable resources via water splitting by using thermal, electrical, photonic and biochemical energy. The major hydrogen production is generated from thermal energy through steam reforming/gasification of fossil fuel. As the commonly used non-renewable resources will be depleted in the long run, there is great demand to utilize renewable ener...
